Reverence Sourdough

Renee Neale has turned what was a little baking project at home into a buzzing business in the midst of Gunnedah. Renee started making Sourdough at home for her family after being inspired by the many bakers who buy their Wholegrain Milling Co Flour. The Reverence loaves are molded by hand by Renee in a purpose built kitchen tucked away in the streets of Gunnedah. The smell of freshly baked bread as it is piled up on the bench is divine.

This is truly a family affair, Renee’s family help her prepare orders as she bakes over 450 loaves a week. Nan is a prominent helper on the production line and Renee and Nan chat away, its seriously lovely to see a genuine family business in action. Baking into the wee hours of the night is what is required to get all those loaves out to everyone by midmorning – it really is a massive effort by Renee and I admire her drive and passion.

Loaves started popping up at Jack and Jill’s Gunnedah @jack_jills_cafe when Tara suggested Renee sell them to her for her cafe, then one thing led to another and now loaves are going to Yield in Narrabri @yield_narrabri, Miss JUJU in Tamworth @missjujufoods, The Pie Mechanic in Uralla  @the_pie_mechanic, The Plains Pantry Willow Tree @theplainspantry and I am sure I have missed someone! Not to mention the personalised home delivery service around Gunnedah. This is a seriously cool business and I would like to thank Renee for letting me pop in to have a chat and take some photos. xx
