Sarah Wheeler’s ongoing adventure is truly inspiring. After the loss of her parents, she has decided to embark on a 5,500km trek across Australia with her beloved horses. This journey is not just about the physical challenge, but also a way for Sarah to heal and find hope after her mother’s passing.

I went out with Sarah in December for half a day as a friend was driving her ute to her next stop. Approx 35km was the days journey riding one horse and leading the other. Sarah has had her trying times, having to swap horses due to the long days not wanting her core horses to get sour or injured. She swapped out to 2 new horses – one which did not fancy being led and pulled back at every opportunity, rope burn was not ideal! So a new pair of steeds was acquired, I think it was their second day when I was there but they behaved well enough just shying at random things on the road just to keep Sarah on her toes!.
